Theodore Cuyler on Belonging to Christ

“Every true believer is surrendered to the ownership of Christ.  Up to the hour of conversion we had other masters--self, sin, and the devil.  Now Jesus says to each Christian, "You are Mine! I own you. I will instruct you, and polish you, and put you wherever it pleases Me.  I will take care of you, and nothing shall pluck you out of My hand. You shall be My own special treasure in the day of My triumphant appearing. I will place you in My crown!"

Andrew Murray on Abiding in Christ

"He does it in the hope that, when we have found our rest in Christ in time of trouble, we shall learn to choose abiding in Him as our only portion; and when the affliction is removed, have so grown more firmly into Him, that in prosperity He still shall be our only joy.  So much has He set His heart on this, that though He has indeed no pleasure in afflicting us, He will not keep back even the most painful chastisement if He can but thereby guide His beloved child to come home and abide in the beloved Son.  Christian! pray for grace to see in every trouble, small or gTeat, the Father's finger pointing to Jesus, and saying, Abide in Him."
