William Jay on Being Anxious for Nothing
Posted by Bluegrass Endurance | Labels: Anxiety, William Jay | Posted On Monday, June 22, 2020 at 5:30 AM
"PEOPLE are often very anxious about things which they never realize;………..Thirdly, We should equally guard against despondency; for, though we know not what our future days may be, we know that nothing they contain in them will happen by chance. One thing we know:—that “all the ways of the Lord” towards us will be “mercy and truth.” One thing we know:—that “all things work together for good to them that love God.” And, therefore, this should ease us of a burden too heavy for us to bear; and we should “be careful for nothing, but in every thing, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let our requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
William Jay
Charles Spurgeon on Christians

“The children of God are ruled in their inmost powers by love — the love of Christ constraineth them; they rejoice that divine love is set upon them, they feel it shed abroad in their hearts by the Holy Ghost, which is given unto them, and then by force of gratitude they love the Saviour with a pure heart, fervently.”
Charles Spurgeon
Samuel Davis on The Holy Spirit and the World

“The Holy Spirit is the only effectual reformer of the world. If he is absent, legislators may make laws against crime, philosophers may reason against vice, ministers may preach against sin, conscience may remonstrate against evil, the divine law may prescribe and threaten hell, the Gospel may invite and allure to heaven, but all will be in vain. The strongest arguments, the most melting entreaties, the most alarming denunciations from God and man, enforced with the highest authority, or the most compassionate tears, all will have no effect, all will not effectually claim one sinner or gain one sincere convert to righteousness.”
Samuel Davies
James Smith on the Christian Life
Posted by Bluegrass Endurance | Labels: Christian's Life, James Smith | Posted On Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 5:16 AM
“THE true Christian desires to be ruled by God's word, and to be guided by God's providence. He wishes to be what God requires; to do what God commands; and to go where God directs. But he is often in great difficulty; he cannot see the way; he is uncertain what course he should take; and his cry is, "Make thy way straight before my face.””
James Smith
Charles Spurgeon on God's Promises

“He who makes the promise ever fulfils it by His own unaided omnipotence. If He speaks, it is done — done by Himself. His promises do not depend for their fulfillment upon the co-operation of the puny strength of man.”
Charles Spurgeon

"PEOPLE are often very anxious about things which they never realize;………Secondly, That we should beware of presumption, and say, “The Lord shall choose mine inheritance for me.” “Go to, now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell and get gain: whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away.”

We are here to glorify Christ in our daily life. We are here as workers for Him, and as "workers together with Him." Let us see that our life answereth its end.”

“This must ever be a great and certain truth, that we love Him for no other reason than because He first loved us. Our love to Him is the fair offspring of His love to us. Cold admiration, when studying the works of God, anyone may have, but the warmth of love can only be kindled in the heart by God's Spirit.”
