"Just as the sun rises in the east and gradually mounts up into the meridian sky, dispersing with every ray light, warmth, and gladness; so this blessed Lord Jesus, as the Sun of righteousness, is ever dispersing the beams of his grace and the rays of his favour; and whenever those beams come, and those rays fall, there is light and life, and everything to make the soul holy and happy."

Jonathan Edwards on Grace
Posted by Bluegrass Endurance | Labels: Grace, Jonathan Edwards | Posted On Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 5:30 AM
"What is the earnest, and beginning of glory, but grace itself, especially in the more lively and clear exercises of it? It is not prophecy, nor tongues, nor knowledge, but that more excellent divine thing, "charity that never faileth," which is a prelibation and beginning of the light, sweetness and blessedness of heaven, that world of love or charity. It is grace that is the seed of glory and dawning of glory in the heart, and therefore it is grace that is the earnest of the future inheritance.”
Jonathan Edwards

Martyn Lloyd-Jones on Grace and Salvation
Posted by Bluegrass Endurance | Labels: Grace, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Salvation | Posted On Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 5:30 AM
WE ARE CHRISTIANS ENTIRELY AND SOLELY AS THE RESULT OF THE GRACE OF GOD . Let us remind ourselves once more that grace means “unmerited, undeserved favor.” It is an action that arises entirely from the gracious character of God. So the fundamental proposition is that salvation is something that comes to us entirely from God’s side. What is still more important is this: it not only comes from God’s side, it comes to us in spite of ourselves—“unmerited” favor.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones

“Grace, as the seed in the parable, grows, we know not how. Yet at length, when God sees fittest, we shall see that all our endeavor has not been in vain. The tree falls upon the last stroke, yet all the strokes help the work forward.”

Thomas Guthrie on how Grace Works in the Sinner
Posted by Bluegrass Endurance | Labels: Grace, Sinners, Thomas Guthrie | Posted On Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 5:30 AM
“Even so it is in that change which grace works in sinners. The nature of the redeemed is so accommodated to the state of redemption, their wishes are so fitted to their wants, their hopes to their prospects, their aspirations to their honors, and their will to their work, that they would be less content to return to polluted pleasures than this beautiful creature to be stripped of its silken wings, and condemned to pass its days amid the old, foul garbage, its former food.”
Thomas Guthrie
