Great Quote!
I think we should follow Bacon's directives on reading only adding that the Word of God is to be our authority by which we "weigh and consider" any book.
Because ultimately it's not the opinions of men- however learned and thoughtful they may be- that count in evaluating a book; It's what God says that truly matters.
Speaking of Bacon here are two articles that deal with the "two book fallacy", which unfortunately, Bacon seems to have originated.
